Unable to Delete Curve from Sketch

Unable to Delete Curve from Sketch

Unable to Delete Curve from Sketch

(OP)
Hi All
I am trying to update a sketch which is parent to an extruded feature. (The extrusion was subtracted from the solid body at its creation).
However when I try to delete curves or lines in the sketch it gives me an error message as follows.

"The selected objects are not supported by this operation"

I have tried creating a new sketch and hence extrusion and then replacing the existing to no avail.
I have also re-attached the sketch to another plane.
I can delete the extrusion but I also lose a lot of stuff further down the tree.

I am sure there is a simple solution however being a UG newbie I don't know which way to go.
TIA Dave

RE: Unable to Delete Curve from Sketch

You need to add/remove curves of the sketch to the defining string of the extrusion.  There should be an icon within the extrusion's sketch to do this.
