Resource Tracking / Time Tracking

Resource Tracking / Time Tracking

Resource Tracking / Time Tracking

(OP)
Hey guys,

At my company, we have a lot of trouble with time tracking as employees only like to enter the amount of time they've spent on projects once a month. Despite our best efforts (the PM group), and several software solutions (MS Project, Primavera, ETimeMachine) this number is difficult to improve. I was wondering if you could tell me what your companies use for time / resource tracking. The solution does not necessarily have to be software based, but certainly can be.

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

RE: Resource Tracking / Time Tracking

The software you use is completely irrelevant.  In the aerospace industry, we HAVE to fill out timecards every week, both in order to get paid and to bill our customers.  Failure to do this results in potential jail time as well as fines.  1st offense resulted in a verbal reprimand, while 3rd was grounds for dismissal.

The reason your company is failing to accomplish this is that there are no consequences for not filling out timesheets.

You need to convince your management that any employee who fails to turn in a weekly timecard will not get paid, enforce the rule, and you'll get results.  It's draconian, but that's what you need if you want to get it done.
