Oil and EPR insulated cable

Oil and EPR insulated cable

Oil and EPR insulated cable

(OP)
We have some 6.6 k machinery that has 15 kV EPR insulated jumper cable inside, used as short interconnections.  We want to pressurize/ventilate the equiment with instrument air which will have some oil content.  EPR is not great with oil (rated fair to good by cable manufacturers).  Does anybody have any experience with this type of situation?  Oil immersion is clearly not good with EPR, but oil suspended in air is different.  And what concentration in the air will cause harm, both short (1 year) and long term (10 years).  We'll use a filter on the air supply, but no filter is 100% effective.

RE: Oil and EPR insulated cable

Is this shielded cable? Tyically shielded EPR cable is jacketed with PVC or similar material. If you use weatherproof cable terminations that will seal the conductor strands such that the oil cannot reach the EPR.

Obviously the next question is what are the affects of oil on the cable jacket and terminations? I wouldn't be too worried about the jacket. Contamination of the termination surfaces may lead to accumulation of dirt and eventual failure.
