Any oppinions on Solidedge?  I have used ProE for many years and Considering migrating over to solidedge for my new employer due to a very good offer in price for new users.

Mechanical parts, assemblies and plastic products design.

RE: SolidEdge ??

Design only, no engineering? If so, pick the solid modeling program that has is the easiest to use with the lowest price. Will you be trying to share models with your customers/vendors?

Matthew Ian Loew

Outputting DXF & PDF to fabricators and STL and IGES to molding companies.

RE: SolidEdge ??

Alan Simpson.  I think you'll find SolidEdge much more use friendly and every bit as powerful as Pro-E Wildfire.  You should have no probrem making the migration.

RE: SolidEdge ??

I believe you can get a 30 day trial version of Solid Edge which comes with a pdf manual. I have one but have not had the time to check it out yet.

RE: SolidEdge ??

Pro/E is much more powerful that Solid Edge, but you really need to answer why you are switching. Changing CAD systems is no simple decision, you better be qualified in your decision down the road.

I used solid edge for three years. The department changed after I left because they found it too hard to use.

If you have not upgraded to Wildfire yet, you should do so before you make a change.
