If you're looking for standard ASTM ferrous and non-ferrous material specifications, go to astm.org and you'll be able to order copies of individual specifications or of the volumes of specifications themselves.  The Society of Automotive Engineers also has a web site for their specifications, but I don't know if you can get copies on-line.

Excellent source for alloy material types, properties, costs is carpenter.com

Unfortunately standards organisations that create material specifications are funded by selling copies of them, therefore its unlikely you will find a lot available for free.

This site give a list of standards and description only. http://www.collinspipe.com/engineering.htm

This site offers a subscription service http://www.ihserc.com/

For Steel specifications try www.avesta.com

My site www.gowelding.com has some links to sites giving technical information on materials.

Try entering the spec you want details of in search engines such as www.google.com

Below you'll find a site that has a comprehensive set of tools you can utilize to allow instant access to periodic tables, conversion charts, size and specifications. Bookmark this page for instant access to an up to the minute reference of material property data, or to research trade names for metals.
