Long Saves, Extreme CPU usage?

Long Saves, Extreme CPU usage?

Long Saves, Extreme CPU usage?

(OP)
We have a computer at my work with that is a Dell with 2.2ghtz and 40gig hard drive. When ever we work on a drawing then go to save it, it's taking like almost 3 minutes to save! Sometimes that varies, also noticing that the cpu usage shoots up to 100%, basically maxing out when doing the save and it also takes a while to open the program up. We have defrag the computer, run adaware, spybot and virus scan and cleaned everything out, yet the problem continues, any clues? thanks.

WHAT PLATFORM RU RUNNING...AND DOES IT HAPPEN ONLY W/ AUTOCAD.. WHAT VERSION RU RUNNING

RE: Long Saves, Extreme CPU usage?

Sometimes, unknown to the user, there are numerous blocks, etc that are part of the drawing. Try using "PURGE" and delete out everything in the blocks area. When you save the drawing again, the overall file size will be much SMALLER. Give it a shot!

we are using 2002, also have purged the dwg. does not seem to make a difference...we are thinking it's a Autocad 2002 issue because if we use Autocad 14 we have no issues saving.

RE: Long Saves, Extreme CPU usage?

Have you tried removing all layer filters?
