PIPING COST ESTIMATION

PIPING COST ESTIMATION

PIPING COST ESTIMATION

(OP)
Hi there,
Why the formula for piping cost estimation,
Price= A*(Diameter)^B
is independent of pipe thickness or schedule no. or pressure rating of pipes?

Thanks for all replies

RE: PIPING COST ESTIMATION

Hi,
What are "A" & "B"

Regards,
imtiyaz

Take care :)

RE: PIPING COST ESTIMATION

This seems like a specialization of a general cost/size correlation:

(cost unit a/cost unit b)=
(capacity unit a/capacity unit b)^x

where x usually lies between 0.3-0.8

Best regards

Morten

RE: PIPING COST ESTIMATION

Let's judge it: Prices of pipes are given in USD/ton. You can see that key parameter is mass. Therefore, I would say that thickness is not DIRECTLY involved, but indirectly estimated by coefficient A. You can play a bit with the formula Weight/meter=(D-s)*s*0.02466(in kg/m)

RE: PIPING COST ESTIMATION

And can you tell us then what "D" and "s" is?

RE: PIPING COST ESTIMATION

Sorry, H. D=Diameter; S=thickness. Both are in mm.

RE: PIPING COST ESTIMATION

Thanks for that.

Tah was what i thought but i was not shure for the "s"
