measure accl rate on dyno?

measure accl rate on dyno?

measure accl rate on dyno?

(OP)
Is there a way to measure, or get an indication of an engine's acceleration rate on the Superflow 901 with the basic console??

Tested an engine that was a second a lap faster on a road course, but showed no difference on the dyno???

RE: measure accl rate on dyno?

I think you want to measure acceleration, not acceleration rate.

RE: measure accl rate on dyno?

When you mean no difference between the engines on the dyno, do you mean that they had the exact same torque curves or just had the same peak numbers? I would think to see different acceleration characteristics between engines you would see some difference in the torque curves between the two. If not then I would look elsewhere for your improved lap times.

I have had only limited experience with the 901 and can't think a good way to measure acceleration with it but maybe someone else can.

There was two tests on two different dynos on the same heads & shortblock.

One a Studska the other a Superflow. Both results the same.

The torque & HP curves are the same, .. .. but one is faster on the track??

The only difference was the faster cylinder head had 2-3 points more BSFC at the same 1280 a/f.

brain teaser, ..

===============================

2-3 points ,..you mean  .450  -vs-  .480 ???

1280 A/F Ratio , you mean  12.80:1 Air/Fuel Ratio ???

Larry.

The BSFC for the fast head was .540 at 4500 to .630 at 6750
in the mid rpm range 5200 was .540  6250 .610

The "slower" head was .52 at 4500, .. .63 at 6750,
mid rpm range, 5200 .53 6250 .60

a/f is 12.80:1, . . . . CDS wide band, bosch lsm11 sensor.
