DWG, DXF Compatable Version

DWG, DXF Compatable Version

DWG, DXF Compatable Version

(OP)
I have AUTOCAD LT 2004 on Windows XP home. I drew up a DWG sketch and it could not be opened by two different people I e-mailed this file to. Both said the reason was "incompatable version". Also, both recipients of this DWG file asked if I could send it as a DXF file. Is there a way I can configure my AUTOCAD LT to send compatable files and how do I convert a DWG to DXF? Thanks, Mike.

RE: DWG, DXF Compatable Version

Hello mikeo56,

I am not familar with LT 2004 but in ACAD. To save the drawing file in DXF format in ACAD, bring up Save File dailog box in your drawing and select the down arrow on the file type.  This should display what other file formats you have available on LT verson.  Hope this helps - John

RE: DWG, DXF Compatable Version

Just make sure to save the Autocad file to an older, previous version.

RE: DWG, DXF Compatable Version

I agree with DSRT in that you have options
to save your drawing files in earlier
versions of ACAD.  I had the same problem
and now save in either ACADR12 option or
ACAD2000 option depending on the customer.
I guess it might make sense to save all in
the R12 version.  When you select save as
it gives you several options at the bottom
of the screen as to which version to use.
These well be drawing files rather than
dxf files.
