Pump Head

Pump Head

Pump Head

(OP)
Guys,

When calculating the pump head on a closed chilled water closed loop....should I add all my pressure drops for my chilled water coils, or just my largest P.D..  I would assume just my largest, having that they're not in series.  Can anyone help? Thanx

RE: Pump Head

only the index circuit is required so your assumption is correct

note: sometimes the highest pressure loss circuit is not the index. If you have one 100m long with a pipe loss of say 100kPA and coil PD of 10kPA, you could have a separate parallel circuit of only 50m long and 50kPA loss with a high coil loss of say 70kPA giving it a loss of 120kPA which is the index loss. (unusual but possible)

cheers
