Large Flywheel Balancing

Large Flywheel Balancing

Large Flywheel Balancing

(OP)
I am looking to have a large flywheel dynamicaly balanced.  The flywheel is ~36 inchs in diameter and weighs close to 1000 lbs.  Anybody know if there are shops that can balance flywheels this large.  Maybe in the shipbuilding world?  Any leads would be helpful.

Thank you

RE: Large Flywheel Balancing

Not an outrageous size.  How fast will it run?  Tooling centering and balance can be the same thing, so you may need gorgeous tooling, or some way to center it just like real life, better than 0.001 inch, depending on service speed.

If you are in New England call Hi-Tek Balancing & Mach. Inc. , Lunenburg MA

RE: Large Flywheel Balancing

If you can get it to South Florida, Jim Cornell at Cornell Balancing can get it balanced.

We called and talked to Jim, he really seems to know what he is doing.  Thanks for the contact. You don't happen to know a guy in the upper midwest do you?
