transparent hatching

(OP)
How do I make a solid hatch translucent?  Acad 2000, 2002, or 2004?

I know Microstation and ArcMap can do it; so I'm assuming Acad can to as well.

Application: Highlighting an area on an aerial.

RE: transparent hatching

The only thing I can think of off hand would be to use one of your colors that is set to plot half-tone.

RE: transparent hatching

To do what I think you are suggesting, I make the hatch a color that I have screened to approx 20%. I then select the item and use the Display Order and Send to Back.

RE: transparent hatching

I have used solid hatch before, setting to a halftone pen, and it works fine.  You can also do the same thing with a standard ANSI31 pattern and setting the scale very small, so the lines are close together, and use a halftone pen.
