height adjustment on small assy machine

height adjustment on small assy machine

(OP)
Hello,

I have been given a task to make modify a small assy machine so operator can adjust height as needed. Due to safety concerns Im looking at having someone do this for us.
The machine base is 18" square, it is 60" tall. Weight is 400lbs. Im looking at an adjustment that will allow working height adjustment from 28" to 40"
If anyone has any Ideas on this it is much appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

btw that machine have 480V power coming to it.

RE: height adjustment on small assy machine

have you thought of using pneumatic cylinders as a lift?
There are lots of options for lifting this way. A number of small cylinders, or one or two large units.
400 lbs. is nothing to lift for mass.

RE: height adjustment on small assy machine

Screw Jacks may be your answer, if you wish to use electricity. A simple up/down switch with limit switches to prevent overtravel and some kind of guides/brakes WOOPEE!! you are in business. The travel could be stopped at any time so you would have great adjustablity. Also a quick easy solution is to put it on a prefab lift table, see MSC or McMaster Carr...
