Looking for small linear actuator for fast short move

Looking for small linear actuator for fast short move

Looking for small linear actuator for fast short move

(OP)
I have an application for a small linear actuator and could use some help finding the right product - please let me know if you have any recommendations:

Move (at max stroke): index up 2", short dwell, index down 2"
Total time for fastest move: 80mS
Total weight being moved: 1-2 pounds
Stroke is variable between about .75" and 2"
Move time is variable between 80mS and about 250mS
This makes my max speed up to 50 in/sec!

I will probably have an Allen Bradley Controllogix for other axes.  Am looking for some small actuator (linear motor, rotary motor with linear conversion, etc.) that will either work directly with the controllogix system or be able to communicate via Analog, DeviceNet, Ethernet, etc.

Any leads would be appreciated.

RE: Looking for small linear actuator for fast short move

Shaun - My company makes direct drive linear motors.  We have very small motors that can reach speeds of 200 in/sec.  I am not sure about the interface with the AB controller.  We also sell our own line of motor controllers.  I am a mechanical engineer so I can help much on the electrical side.  Check out our website at www.danahermotion.com.  If you don't find the answers that you need, I can put you in contact with one of our application guys.  Look at the IL06 models.  The small one in this series has a continuous force of 4 lbs.

RE: Looking for small linear actuator for fast short move

Go to miraiintertech.com and click on the dyadic systems icon. I have successfully used the model SCN4 Servo Linear actuator, at a speed of 200 strokes per minute.
It is very easy to use, requiring just two outputs from A PLC to control 2 positions at a fixed velocity.

best regards, PLCSAVVY

They are easy to use and very reliable.  We have been using them for years with great sucess.  Good Luck.

Look at the RoboCylinder from AIA http://www.intelligentactuator.com/
these are great and will satisfy the above requirements.
