Ultra Strong Plastic

Ultra Strong Plastic

Ultra Strong Plastic

(OP)
Hi,

Can someone recommend a type of plastic that could be used to replace a steel component that's 0.5mm thick?

It has to be:

1. As strong as steel
2. Able to resit warping between 10-80 degrees C
3. Currently available commercially
4. Relatively cheap
5. Able to be formed into an exact shape

Many thanks

RE: Ultra Strong Plastic

Plastic conversions from metal tend to have distinctive characteristics like:

- near constant thickness design;
- gussets on one or more sides;
- undercuts.

What may appear simple can become a nightmare. Get expert consultation from plastic manufacturers and molders.

Many thanks - I'll bear this in mind.

Since posting I have been told that PEI / POM might fit the bill but mouding will be prohibitively expensive - therefore the item would have to be cut from sheet.

Heres a link with full comparative specs given by a German maufacturer
