CATIA v5 - CatDrawing dimensions

(OP)
I am finding that when i Create dimensions on a drawing catia defaults to mm

My options-- paramatures and measure units is set to inches
My part is created in inches

How do I get the dimensions to default to inches

RE: CATIA v5 - CatDrawing dimensions

hi,

if you use the search in this forum you can find information about STANDARD in CATIA V5... This is where you should start.

You have to define your own standard file (XML) or use any existing one.

Have a look also in the online doc of CATIA about standard // XML

RE: CATIA v5 - CatDrawing dimensions

Hi AeroDesign,

The unit which you're using in PartDesign has nothing to do with what would be used in the dimension display of the dimension. Mutually exclusive, I think.

When you create your dimension, you can change its numerical display description in the "Dimension Properties" toolbar on the fly by selecting the appropriate one; the default is always NUM.DIMM (which is mm). You can make it NUM.DINC (which is inch) for example.

Or as Eric has suggested, go to Tools + Standards and make
NUM.DINC as your default Numerical Display.

Yes, Online Documentation is always a good place to start with ...

cheers. Kennis Tang.
