Fires in open deck carparks

(OP)
Can anyone tell me the possible heat release rate of a single car fire within an open deck carparka?
I have seen figures ranging from .5MW to 8MW and that is a large range. Does anyone know if detailed studies have been done on multiple car fires in open deck car parks

RE: Fires in open deck carparks

Sorry but I don't have the actual references at hand. However, I can give you some figures for multiple car fires in open deck car parks.
1 car, peaks at about 2.2MW, 3 cars (one first, then the fire spreads) get to about 4MW after 30min. Apparently once the fire has spread through 8 cars, the peak fire size is about 8-10MW.

I may be able to get the reference in a day or two. I'm told it was a Japanese study of open deck car fires with 8 cars involved. Don't know for sure.

Hope this helps.
