Shutdown in process plant vesus subsea centrifugal pumping

Shutdown in process plant vesus subsea centrifugal pumping

Shutdown in process plant vesus subsea centrifugal pumping

(OP)
In case of shutdown of the process plant what type of safeguards shall be applied/used on subsea centrifugal pump installed at well head ?

How is the impact on the well until the pumping stops?

Thanks.

RE: Shutdown in process plant vesus subsea centrifugal pumping

I'm having a hard time understanding your question, and I've worked in process plants and offshore production.

I assume you are shutting down the subsea pump upon a plant ESD, to stop the feed. However, there is usually a valve on the discharge of the pump that is closed, which should almost immediately provide isolation.

The pump should also have a bypass if it cannot withstand the downstream pressure.

As far as I know, there isn't any "impact" on the well until AFTER the pump stops. Then, it might be difficult or impossible to start the well flowing again.

Maybe if you re-worded your question, I might be able to answer it.
