Industrial Origami fabrication method
Industrial Origami fabrication method
(OP)
I posted this originally in other fora, but this topic seems more appropriate here. I thought I would repost here with some specific questions to try to generate some dialog on this fabrication method.
I am interested to get forum members thoughts on the manufacturing methods developed by Industrial Origami, Inc.
Here are some patents I have been able to locate:
06481259: Method for precision bending of a sheet of material and slit sheet therefor
WO04028937A2: TECHNIQUES FOR DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING PRECISION-FOLDED, HIGH STRENGTH, FATIGUE-RESISTANT STRUCTURES AND SHEET THEREFOR
EP1347844A1: METHOD FOR PRECISION BENDING OF A SHEET OF MATERIAL AND SLIT SHEET THEREFOR
Has anyone worked with this fabrication method for enclosures or stowage boxes? Any concerns with human factors (sharp edges) or coating?

RE: Industrial Origami fabrication method
I've never orked with this (let alone seen it), but I would say you would deal with sharp edges, maybe not as bad as traditiona sharp edges since these "slits" appear to be arcs, but sharp none the less. Powder coating might cover some of the edge.
