Automatically viewing new sketch from normal

Automatically viewing new sketch from normal

(OP)
Is there a setting I'm missing by which I can have the view automatically display normal to the plane of a newly created sketch?

RE: Automatically viewing new sketch from normal

I guess I have never noticed this before and I know I have never looked for it.  I tried working on a new plane instead of a face of a part (because it works on the planes for the first sketch) but have found that the only time the model automatically normals up is on the first sketch.  Sorry, I am not able to help,I just figured I would share what I found.

RE: Automatically viewing new sketch from normal

aamoroso is correct; the "normal to" function is only automatic on the first sketch.  After that, it's manual.  You could always get around that limitation with the API, though.

RE: Automatically viewing new sketch from normal

Just setup a Hotkey like "Ctrl-N" or just "N" and use that for "Normal To" when in a sketch.

RE: Automatically viewing new sketch from normal

"CTRL 8" is set up for this Normal to View by default in SW2004 and later.  I change mine to "N" because I use it so much.
