AutoCAD 2002 Layout zoom problems

AutoCAD 2002 Layout zoom problems

AutoCAD 2002 Layout zoom problems

(OP)
I have had this happen several times, and just found a co-worker with the same problems.  A 3D model is created in m-space.  View port is created in layout tab.  Leaving m-space and entering p-space, I’ll set the viewport zoom (1/8 scale, 1/10 scale, etc.) Upon zooming in on any small corner of the view port (whole v-port is not visible, 1/4 or less), the whole model can still be viewed with in the v-port as if the program has auto scaled the model to be visible in the display.  My problem in the past was that I created the v-port with a gouraud shade on.  The solution that seemed to work,  I'd delete the v-port, go to the model tab, change the shade to 2D wire, back to layout tab, and recreate the v-port.  I've tried that with his drawing a couple of times, with no success.  Without starting over (copying model to new file) is there a solution for this?  Just curious why this is happening.

RE: AutoCAD 2002 Layout zoom problems

I know that AutoCAD normally does this for every view mode EXCEPT for 2D wireframe. (BTW, What Version are you using?)
If you are using 2000 or newer, just dbl-click in the viewport, set the 2d wireframe mode, then in properties, lock the viewport so it won't change. 2D also takes up less resources so CAD can run a little better and rotate views and orbit a little better.
Hope this helps!

RE: AutoCAD 2002 Layout zoom problems

Hello chaz417,

Are you having any other problems with ACAD?  If not then follow TDevil post.  The reason why I am asking is that I incountered this problem amoung others in ACAD.  If you are then try the AUDIT command.  If no luck, you have to reinstall ACAD on your system.  What has happened is that one or more ACAD dlls have become corrupted.  This is what I had to do to solve this problem.  Hope this helps - John
