attribute text in x-refs

attribute text in x-refs

(OP)
hi,
maybe somenone can shed a little light on this....

At my office we use software in conjunction with acad that inserts blocks into drawings with text labels that are block attributes. When these blocks are nested in xrefs unexploded, the attribute text shows in the x-ref. However, when the blocks are exploded, the attribute text is visible in the actual x-ref drawing, but invisible in the drawing that holds the x-ref. We then have to substitute regular mtext to see the label.

Why does this happen, and is there a work-around?

any help is appreciated.

RE: attribute text in x-refs

Hello Sundemon,

When a x-ref file is updated, you have to highlight the reference name in the Xref Manager dialog box and pick the Reload button.  This forces ACAD to read and display the most recently saved x-ref(s) version in the master drawing.  Hope this helps - John

john,
thanks, but the attribute is invisible in the x-ref regardless of whether it's reloaded or not.

RE: attribute text in x-refs

Hello again Sundemon,

I have another suggestion. What layer is the attribute layer in your x-ref file on and do you have the same layer in your master drawing?  If you do then check to see if that layer is frozen.

John
