I need to connect two pieces of digital communications equipment together through a patch panel.  I'm wondering what the best wiring scheme is for proper shielding and preventing "ground loops".  I'll be using Belden 8166 cable which I believe has an overall braided shield over foil, which incases individual shielded pairs shielded with foil that include drain wires.

Should I connect the individual drain wires to signal ground (pin 7) on one end?  should it pass through the patch panel or connect separately on each end?
