Where is the best software for Hydraulic Calculation?

(OP)
Hi gentlemen,

I would like to know where can I find the best software to perform hydraulic calculation or a web sites (or book) teach basic pipe sizing methods or techniques for bulk terminals/oil refinery?

I really need your help to accelerate my learning curve as a new Piping Engineer. Thank you so much in advance in for devoted time.

RE: Where is the best software for Hydraulic Calculation?

I have used the Crane software in the past. I thought it was good, don't know if it's the best.  Also, their technical paper is a standard which is widely used.  Try Cranevalve.com

I just have been busy in the last few days, looking back at this post and I am stunt to receive helps from all of you. I can't believe you actually devoted your precious time to assist me. I will look at each individual sites and evaluate. Futhermore, I have another question:

Do you know why sometimes this eng-tips.com site will send you a notice that they can't verify your email and apparently blocking me from accessing. I never post any malicious subjects neither abuse this site. Is that because I didn't pay the donation? Because when I verify and confirm my email, it still not working so it makes me think the site owner wants me to donate but he is not sincere enough to be up front.  Please let me know if you ever run into the same situation. This had happened at least 3 times for me. Thank you.

No, that's not it.  If you thought that, why wouldn't you email the site and ask them directly than pose a cheap shot like this? (sorry, but in my opinion, that's what your comment is).

I would simply email the site and ask the question why you might be having problems.

TD2K,

I sent them email but I never had any reply. I wonder if they just ignore. I also would like to ask you to be nice on your words and break your agressive behavior since you realize that you can't intimidate anyone in this Forum than just yourself. Just my opinion. Take or leave it is your choice.

RE: Where is the best software for Hydraulic Calculation?

No TrucTracy, it's not website based.  Probably a network issue on your end or transmission issues with your computer, i.e. IP syntax or address, etc.  I just had one posting today that went a bit wonky, luck of the draw I guess.  I loose the ocassional one on dialup because of my IP, but that's because it's dialup and slow phone lines.

You'll find this website very well managed and the responses highly professional.  People who choose to respond enjoy taking the time, maybe had a problem like it in the past and learnt from it, or have a general love for their work, mechanical engineering design and problem solving.

TrucTracy

Please be good enough to let us know the results of your investigation into the relative merits of the software packages notified to you.

This is how the Eng-tips system works - a few engineers give you some information, and you feed something back. It all works pretty well, actually.

We all have computer and internet problems from time to time - no need to get paranoid about it. They're not out to get you! (probably)
