Butane Solubilityin Bitumen

Butane Solubilityin Bitumen

(OP)
Hi,

I would like to know the butane gas solubility in Bitumen.
The bitumen has the Viscosity of 40,550 mPas and density 970.3 kg/m3.

Operating Condition: The temperature is 19-20 deg cel and pressure is between 0.21 MPa and 0.23 MPa.

Would you pls suggest me how can I calculate the solubility in mass fraction?

Thanks,
Chem55

You might look into asphaltene recovery using propane.  Some refineries use propane extraction on vacuum tower bottoms to extract the asphaltenes to make asphalt and allow the remaining bottoms to be thermally cracked.  That might be similar to what you are trying to do.  I would guess that if you really need an answer you need to go to the lab.  Based on my limited experience with oil I would bet that it is very dependant on the source of the bitumen.

Good luck
