Books.. Mechanical drafting with AutoCad

Books.. Mechanical drafting with AutoCad

Books.. Mechanical drafting with AutoCad

(OP)
Hello
Can anyone advise on any drafting books. Its one thing to know how to use the basics of AutoCad but the where and how to actually place those lines is where I need help.
Ideally, the book I am looking for would have pictures of common mechanical parts and then "proper" drawings of that piece showing the correct and necessary  views done in AutoCad. Starting with "simple" things like cylinders, blocks with holes, and progressing to shapes that have changing profiles, pump impellers, screw augers castings...
Thanks

RE: Books.. Mechanical drafting with AutoCad

Ralph2-
Any good High School or College Drafting text  should meet your need. Even today, the best ones start people out drawing lines with a straight edge and pencil. Get a feel for creating parts on paper, and this will be a BIG help in mentally translating  to ACAD.

Local used bookstores and campus student bookstores are a good place to get a book & save some $. If you find one, it'll probably have a basic ACAD chapter, too. You're right- a good book's emphasis will be on proper graphical representation  of parts, including 1st & 3rd angle (U.S. Standard) view projection from an isometric cube, etc. It would probably also include examples of many different design and drafting disciplines, likely covering topics of specific interest to you. Add to that a good ACAD how-2 book, and soon you'll be on top of the game!

Good luck!
