How do you weld?

How do you weld?

How do you weld?

(OP)
Sorry to ask such a basic question but this wasn't covered in my level 1 solid works class. How do you weld pipes together for example, if you have a pipe or tube 12 ins long and weld another pipe in the center of it at 90deg? How is the weld performed or shown.

RE: How do you weld?

Are you doing at the part level or the assembly?

Part - You use Weldment Toolbar. There you can add welds simply by selecting the "Fillet Bead" Icon

Assembly - You have go to Insert\Assembly Feature\WEld Bead - it makes a new part and you pick the appropriate faces to apply the bead.

I personally would use the Weldment toolbar at the part stage. I used it to make a tubed bumper for my truck. However I did use SW05 because it supported the bending of tubes (For the push bar) were SW04 didn't.

You can see the weld beads under each pipe.

Thanks for the tip Scott I'll give it a crack, for this application I'll be using it in the part level.
