Benefits of Draw-off in Chilled Water Closed Loop

(OP)
Guys,

It's me again with another question lol.  What are the benefits of a draw-off (valved and capped) in a chilled water closed loop system?  The reasoon I'm askling is becuase my old boss had sent me a piping schematic with (3) draw-off's.

(2) on the return side before the air seperator
...and (1) on the discharge side of the pump

Is this for drainage for the system?
Is this typical for a hot water system also?

RE: Benefits of Draw-off in Chilled Water Closed Loop

Your system might have been designed keeping the future expansions in view. This is a way of providing future connection without disturbing the system. You totally build your future system, test it and then connect it to the present system without taking a single day shutdown.
