Bends in Square Tubing
Bends in Square Tubing
(OP)
Currently we have a production project that requires bending 3/4" square tubing. Each assembly requires 24 pieces of tubing. Both ends of each tube are bent on a 2-1/2" radius in a die set on an arbor press, the excess is manually trimmed on a band saw, then each end is welded in place. This process is slow, and the accuracy is not what we wish it to be. If some sort of preformed bend was available that could be welded to a straight tube, our production efficiency would increase and the accuracy and appearance of the finished part would be greatly enhanced. We have noticed several sources offering varying styles of joints for round tubing but have yet to find anything for square tubing. We would greatly appreciate any information anyone would wish to share about whether preformed joints for square tubing are available, or any other comments or suggestions anyone would wish to offer. Thanks, K.

Maybe a two part stamping?
You may be able to make the corner part a "press in" so as to do away with the welding.
Just a couple of thoughts.

Thank You for your response. A rotation swaging machine is something we know nothing about. We would enjoy any information you would care to share with us about this type of machine and how it can be used to bend square tubing.
