V-Cone

V-Cone

(OP)
I was wondering if Anybody could send me a detail of the correct way a v-cone is set up I thought the lines came out of the top of the v-cone but an older and wiser co-worker told me it acted like a Orifice Plate and came out of the side? Thanks

RE: V-Cone

WillHelm,
V-Cone flowmeter consists of a V-shaped cone element placed at the center of the pipe, leaving an annular space for the passage of fluid. The beta ratio of the device is the ratio of the diameter of an axisymmetric hole that is equal in area to the annular opening opening of the V-Cone to the pipe diameter. The differential pressure generated by this device is lower than that of an orifice flowmeter with the same line size, beta ratio, and flow rate and pressure loss is also lower than an orifice plate.

The impulse lines should come from the side.
