Need inexpensive precision (+/-.002") plastic bushings made
Need inexpensive precision (+/-.002") plastic bushings made
(OP)
I need to have some bushings made. qty 500 each
part#1
O.D.= .250
I.D.= .153
Length = .225
part#2
O.D.= .250
I.D.= .118
Length = .150
part#3
O.D.= .250
I.D.= .184
Length = .130
I have looked into:
-Off the shelf.
-Extrusion
-Injection Molding
Could not find "off the shelf"
Extrusion and Injection Molding had high prices for the low volumes.
Looked into screw machining and found cheapest, but still high. Inside Diameters are critical. I could possibly changee the length and the outside dimension...
Any suggestions. I need this soon.

RE: Need inexpensive precision (+/-.002") plastic bushings made
What kind of plastic are you talking about (Delrin, Teflon, etc.)
What are the tolerances of the outside diameters and the length?
What is the inside and outside surface finish roughness

I have done business with Protomold but am not affiliated with Protomold in any way.

Anyway, at + - 0.002, get an oversized plastic rod of your choice, take it to a local machine shop that can work to the 0.001 and have them bore and turn it down for you.
Hope this helps.

For quantities of 500, I can have my machinist kick these off the NC with very little turnaround.
