Jockey Pumps - FM Requirements

(OP)
Looking at previous threads on numbers of jockey pumps, I agree that one jockey pump makes sense for pressurisation of the firemains. However I'm currently looking at the design of a new system that will require three, possibly four separate diesel driven firepumps and have picked up a clause in the FM datasheet 13-4N (basically an addendum to NFPA 20) that requires a ' separate jockey pump for each firepump'. Anyone come across this who can explain the rationale behind this?
