Wood spans to hold minimal weight
Wood spans to hold minimal weight
(OP)
I am trying to figure out what sizes of 2X's or 4X's are needed to span an area.
The idea is to support a canvas shade covering without blocking a view with center posts.
The maximum span would be 25'.
Is there a chart for this type of construction?

Consider looking at this web site http://www.woodtruss.com/. It provides links to several trade aasociations and their publications.
