Truarc Groove

Truarc Groove

Truarc Groove

(OP)
I used the groove tool to make a groove for an external Truarc ring.

I thought this was a neat tool since I just specified the size of the ring and the software did the rest.

My problem is that when I go to draft the part the radius' at the bottom of the groove arent showing.  When I look at the side of the shaft it shows the original shaft with the reduced diameter in the middle and there is a gap between the original and reduced diameter.

It looks like there are 3 separate pieces with small gaps between them.

I'm assuming that I need to turn something on or change show something is shown but I haven't had any luck with the help files to figue this out.

RE: Truarc Groove

Did you add the radii yourself after the fact?  (I ask since retaining ring grooves don't normally come with radii.)  If you did, it's likely that the order in which you created your features could be the culprit.  In other words, you should try doing the groove first, then the draft, then the radii.  Don't forget to put dimensions on the groove after it has been created, since it is a "blue" (underdefined) sketch.

RE: Truarc Groove

I agree with PDM that you should probably re-order you radii and your draft.  The draft is only meant for the cuts and the radii are meant to blend the surfaces. Sounds like currently you are trying to blend three surfaces and then change two of them.

RE: Truarc Groove

James,

It sounds more like a visual display problem than a draft issue.  There have been many posts in this group regarding display issues and video cards.  I suggest you check those out.
