RE: load bearing on I beams
Is there a particular beam size you had in mind ?

RE: load bearing on I beams
load bearing is going to be *very* dependent upon the length of the beam you use (whether used as a beam, or as a column)
The longer the beam, the less load it can support, in general.
If you are not familiar with structural analysis, you should not, under any but the most immediate,god-help-us-but-it-has-to-lift-one-time-and-NOW circumstances, attempt to use quickie estimations of beam strength without an actual engineer reviewing the proposed structure.
Even if you did stay at a 'Select Inn' last night.
