Tangent Plane

(OP)
I know it's a basic question, but it's driving me nuts!  How can you create a datum plane tangent to a cylindrical surface?  Thanks so much!

RE: Tangent Plane

For example, if your cylinder is in sketched in the Front Plane and you want your tangent plane to be parallel to the Top Plane, select the Right Plane and the surface of the cylinder and then insert the new plane.

When you do so, if you want the plane to be on the opposite "side" of the cylinder, click the "Other Solutions" button.
