(OP)
I have been designing in a fresh CATPart, nipping backwards and forwrads into other "reference" CATParts, for measurements, taking dump sections etc.

If I close these "reference" CATParts without saving the changes, and try to re-open (to give me a fresh model), catia gives me an warning to say that this model is already loaded in the current session and then re-opens it as it was closed, with all the junk I had created but chose not to save!

Does any body know of anyway around this?

RE: Loaded documents

I don't have a solution, but I have been getting the same problem in R13SP4.  Safest way is to quit out and restart V5.

RE: Loaded documents

V5 has behaved this way forever as far as I know.  Generally, you don't have to exit V5, you just have to close all open documents.

CATIA seems to save these parts in memory so that they load faster when you try to re-load them later.  It would be nice if it would give you the option to revert the part to the "as filed" condition when you re-read it, just like MS Word does.

RE: Loaded documents

I suggested to Dassault to bulid in a simular function to ProENGINNERS "Erase all not shown" (Erase all documnets in memory except the active one). This was in R9 and I havn't heard anything yet.

Anyone how knows if DS is working on anything like this??

RE: Loaded documents

Don't know. You could email the DPC representative about the status of the Enhancement Request though.
