Speed Control of Regenerative Blower

Speed Control of Regenerative Blower

Speed Control of Regenerative Blower

(OP)
I have an application that uses regenerative blower for moving air. How do I control the air flow rate (actually the speed of the blower)? I have a PLC that is used to control lot of other parameters my system. I am wondering if I can use the same controller. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks in advance,

Nagaraj

RE: Speed Control of Regenerative Blower

Nagaraj,

Of course you can use the PLC to control the air flow-rate.
Modern PLC's have software PID controllers able to do the job. Now you only need is an airflow meter and a frequency inverter do generate variable speeds for the blower motor.

The system can work as follows a low air flow increase speed of motor and at high air flow decrease speed of motor.
Through PID control in a continuous and stable way.

Or maybe you only want to ajust the motor speed of the blower? Then a simple frequency inverter will do the job.
Both SIEMENS and Danfoss have nice ones.

Hope this helps,
C.
